A classmate blog´s

Today I visited Maria Olvido blog`s. In this blog I found 12 posts of very varied topics, in the some post, she write about herself and in other post, she write about her opinion of some education topics or of her carrier.
The features of this blog that I like me is that is understandable. I can read and understand what she says. I don´t know if that happens because she write very well and so I understand or is because I have improved my English reading. Anyway the two reasons are good.
I found two posts that I like. The first that I like, she it wrote the may 6, in this she talks about the web site: Psicothema.com. This post I like me because I didn´t know this web site and what she says this web site is going to be useful to me to find information for my academics works.
The second post that I like, she wrote the may 11, in this she talk about the place called “Rinconada de Huampoe”. What she says and what photo she shows, I think that this place should very nice. I like the place that is covered with green and where there were a lot of trees, I like the nature and she says that this place like that.
I don´t know what aspect she should focus for improve her English in her blog. I find that it´s okay. Maybe I do not see details.

Ken Robinson says "the school kills the creativity"

Today I will talk about a person that I did not know until now. He says a lot of very interesting things about education. I’m talking about Ken Robinson, who gave a conference where he talked about actual education. In this conference, he criticized the education’s system, and he told stories about how their children were using their imagination, but they were not understood. So, he said that schools kill the creativity and imagination. This is a thing very interesting idea for analysis, because if you think, what do children do when they are at the school?
We can say that mostly, children memorize contents and the contents are not diverse. So, I think that before creating new things, they should learn the theory, but, of course, they can also learn the contents with creative. I don´t know very well but I think that when I grew up I lost my creativity, I lost the surprise’s capacity and I found out that nothing was new, so I became more structured.
What Robinson said was true: when we are adults we have scare to commit mistakes, so we don’t test new things and I think that is bad in a lot of ways, so is very important promote the imagination to create new things and thus be innovators.

My best friend

My best friend is Camila, we know since that we entered the school in first grade but if I remember correctly we are friends since fourth grade, that's 12 years ago I consider her like a sister by the time we know and because I know that although she is not close to me because we live in different cities, she'll be there if I need it and she also knows I'm there for when she needs me. Camy is a very intelligent, sensitive and sometimes bizarre, but above all interesting because she knows a lot about many things and I like that, with she you can spend hours talking about without getting bored, so I think what we like to do when we get together is going to a good coffee and talk and talk. I like that she always has a story of something new, a new band, a new place to go, like any thing and are always good things. I think in many things she and I were like the same things. Another thing we have in common is a interest for the arts, even at school went together to a theater workshop. But one of the few things we have not been able to share are the partys. I think that we do not like the same things because I like to dance and drink from time to time, but she is calmer, but it is a detail
now it's fun because she is studying medicine and then psychiatry study and I study psychology so we are always talking about mental health and we exchanging experience of the activities we participate in university. We dream of working together in a clinic or open our mental health center but for that we have finished studying… it takes time to. For now only we plan to go on holiday together somewhere.

Today I will talk about my area of study and skills that need it. I think that in psychology carrier you need have a good reading comprehension, are systematic in your studies, are empathic, you have service vocation and critical thinking. Also is very important that you worry about your people and you wonder by human behavior. Also is good that you have patience and take away from you to know what others will speak and the lives of other, this is very important to you don`t fall into depression or you go crazy like your patients. Many of these things are learned: you learn to think scientifically and thus understand the human behavior; you do learn the methodology for your help people. But is inborn that you worry about your people, you are empathic, and you have service vocation.
In my opinion, this university not providing all many things that name before. Maybe this particular career lacks the necessary practice to develop many of the things that name before. Here focus heavily on theory. This is important but not is all. We do not see patients until late in the career. Then after applying the theory is very difficult.
Also is difficult that you can to develop in a theory because all classes of this theory are in a same time. I don’t feel prepared for what the future waiters but I still have two and half years of preparation and we are working to change things that are wrong in the career.

I love my notebook...

A piece of technology that I like because it is very useful to me, is my notebook. My parents bought me when I came to study in Santiago. The notebook is old, has four years, is heavy and that makes it difficult to transport, but it is very useful, especially when I am a student and I always ask at the university work. This is really usefull because has Internet. My notebook with internet is the perfect combination for many things. as I said before I used to do my univesity work and to check the mail where they send information to the university. I can not help connect every night to check the mails, it's like an obsession for me. I also use a lot to maintain communication with people, especially now that I'm away from my house, but serves more to me talk to my friends than with my family. I spoke with my family over the phone and I communicate with my friends through msn, facebook and e-mails.
My notebook also use it to listen to music and watch movies, it has a large screen so its nice to see movies.
While said that it is highly portable, anyway, I can take home to my parents when I travel there.
Now my brother gave me a device to add memory to improve performance, I do not know much about computer but he said it was like having another flash drive with more capacity. I only know that now I can support my information if my notebook died so old that it is.

Punta Arenas....a very nice place.

Today tell you about a beatifull place in the south of Chile. The place is Punta Arenas, this town is located in the Patagonia of Chile. I was born in this place but I didn`t met it or didn`t remember it because my family was moved to Chillan when I was a very little. So my parents promised me that was my 15th birthday they will take me and my brother (also he was born in this place) to met Punta Arenas. So we went in the winter of year 2003. Althought it was a long time ago, is the most important travel for me.
When we came to Punta Arenas I confirmed how beautiful the place was, like my parents said.
In this place we visited the square of Punta Arenas where is the a statue called “Indio patagónico”, the legend said that if you kiss his foot, you will have good luck..either that or I got Punk'd Punta Arenas-style. Also we visited the shepherd monument and the municipal cementery. This last place is beatiful. It looked like a castle garden old with many pines and statues. You could think that is very strange that I like the cementery but this place it really nice.
If you will go to Punta Arenas. you can`t no visit the cementery.

Pinel and the anti-psychiatry

Today I will talk about Philippe Pinel, the person I admire in the psychology. Although he is not psychologist is a very important person to the psychiatry and to mental health. He is a French doctor, and he participated in the French revolution. He works with Jean-Baptiste Pussin who promoted the moral treatment for mentally ill. Pinel worked in the Bicêtre, he decided there reformulate the treatment for mentally ill because they were treated as prisoners, them were shackled. In 1795 he assumed as chief physician of the Salpêtrière hospital. In this place he applied the same reforms that in Bicêtre. Then he dedicated to worked to improved the organization of hospital. Also he wrote in 1798 a Nosographie philosophique.Rather than being an important person for me, I considered that he is an icon in the psychiatry and psychology or rather for the anti-psychiatry. For someone Pinel is the father of. He is considered as the first medical psychiatry.
I considered that his work is very important because he changed the image of mental ill, to be the dregs of society to be people. Thanks to him, now the mentally ill are treated humanely.

The Chilean education

Today tell you about of education in Chile. Is difficult talk about this topic, because the education in Chile is very questionable. First there is a big difference in the education that receives all children. Being the good education a right, in the Chilean schools not teach the same. Just in the particular school and traditional state school you can be found quality education. This is general tendency. Then the people that receive good education are only they can pay this education. The variables that influence in this are many. I think that this are connected with education policy that there are in Chile. Also this are connected with teacher`s motivation and student’s motivation depending on the situation in each. This is a vicious circle.
Another problem is what is taught. The curriculum is designed by dominant part of society. It is taught mathematics, science, language… only hard science. This it is the society need for industrial production, but leave out the content that promotes personal development, for example the philosophy. The hours that dedicate to philosophy taught are less than hours to mathematics.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” my favorite movie

I like very much see movies. It`s a good activity to night`s Friday, where I need to relax. My favorite film is “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”. I don’t remember when see it because was long ago.
Is a north American’s film to 2004, its director is Michel Gondry and the principal actors are Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet, too you see Elijah Wood, Mark Ruffalo, Kirsten Dunst, Tom Wilkinson. The film presents a history when Joel (Jim Carrey) meets to Clementine (Kate Winslet) in the improvised trip but it’s not the first time than are together. Through to film you discover that they meet to before. They had a long relation but Clementine decide to finish the relation and she go to doctor Howard Mierzwiak to blot out the all Joel`s regards. Joel too made brain laundering to forget to her. The film is very fun and interesting because it`s not lineal in the time. The film can be confusing but in the end you understand all history. Any way who has not tried to forget someone?

Is an interesting websites for learn English. You can learn English entertaining way. This websites is interactive. You can make many activities where for example you can listen and read English text at the same time. Also in this websites you can learn English playing. I visit a section where I can read and to listen a news at the same time. With this activity I can learn to pronounce English word. Also it`s very useful for understanding spoken English. If I found an unknown word or an unknown expression, I found the meaning in the end of page.

Also You can learn english wiht “the flatmates”. It`s a serie. It `s about four friends who share flat. It`s very fun for me because is a hisotory similar to my life but in my case I share flate with a one person, althought once, we were more. What's good of this is that I can learn english with familiar something.

Earthquaker in the epicenter

Today I will tell about my experience of February 27th 2010.
That day I stayed in my parents’ home in Concepción. Hours before I asked my brother to go out to his bedroom and I went to sleep. I was sleeping peacefully when I felt that my bed moved. Then the moment became very quickly and fuzzy all. I remember that I woke up and I listen a yell out from my brother calling me. Then he came into bedroom and he toke me out of there. We quickly went down the stairs and we got together in the principal door. While we waited that the movement stopped, we called out my dad for him to appear, but he didn`t appeared. I hugged my mom. I was scared. I sensed the smell of dust. The moment felt eternal. When the movement past my dad appeared with lanterns and a battery-radio. The only station that we could hear was an argentine one. In that moment we discovered that the movement was an earthquake.
The day after that we woke up near to the fire at the home of a neighbor. There they gave me a chocolate. I was happy because it calmed my nerves.

Hi I`m Tamara Tapia.

I have 21 years old. I`m in 3th year of psychology in University of Chile. I live in Ñuñoa with a friend but my family live in Concepción. I was born in Punta Arenas and the younger of two brothers.
I like listen to music read and go out with my friends.
My expectation in this course is learn more English, especially fear losing to speak English.
